10 Uncommonly used Filipino words


1. Salumpuwit (chair) – a piece of furniture, commonly used to seat a single person.

-Kunan mo ako ng salumpuwit diyan sa likod ng pinto.

2. Salipawpaw (airplane) – a powered flying vehicle with fixed wings and a weight greater than that of the air it displaces.

-Araw-araw ay may nakikita akong salipawpaw.

3. Sambat (fork) – an implement with two or more prongs used for lifting food to the mouth or holding it when cutting.

-Gumamit ako ng sambat kanina sa hapag-kainan.

 4. Yakis (sharpen) – to make something sharp or sharper.

-Yakisin mo itong lapis sa kusina.

 5. Anluwage (carpenter) – a person whose job is to make or fix wooden parts of buildings.

-Juan, tawagin mo yung anluwage na gagawa ng pintuan.

6. Tampalasan (traitor) – person who betrays a friend, country, principle and etc.

-Napagkamalan kaming mga tampalasan.

7. Tsubibo (ferris wheel) – sometimes called a big wheel.

-Sumakay kami ng tsubibo kahapon sa perya.

8. Pantablay (charger) – a device for charging storage batteries.

-Ako ay gumamit ng pantablay para sa aking telepono.

9. Panginain (browser) – a computer program that is used to find and look at information on the internet.

-Kami ay gagamit ng panginain para sa aming assignment.

10. Pang ulong hatinig (headset) – device that holds an earphone and a microphone in place on a person’s head.

-Ang aking pang ulong hatinig ay regalo ni papa.
